Tinplate6
Time for an update...I managed to score a MIB Sel-Mac Espacio robot. Complete with helmet, ray gun and matching rifle. The tiny box even had the cello window intact! I love the gold foil label too. When I placed the two figures together, I can see several differences; the mint robot is taller, does not have any paint, and has separate molded red plastic parts. The other robot has all the red and gold details painted on. So, should I assume that the painted version is older?
Brian..
The usual rule is the simpler version is the newer.
Alain Lapointe
This one should be rare, but I won an auction for a similar one with box and all a few days ago and waiting for its arrival, such a coincidence. By the pic. looks the same as your new one.
Tinplate6
Alain, it most likely was the same seller...I initially lost the auction, but received a second chance offer of another piece that the seller had; I saw in the photo he sent me, there were two identical ones side by side. So, it appears we both got lucky.

"This is the first time in many years I find one in new contion, and usually the single box is not present or very damaged" <one thinks to get a real rarity, and knowing there were 2 could have made me lower the bidding offer. Besides it looks that you were more lucky, because apparently on my box the selmac label is stitched slanted, with part of the name covered. So he offered you the best piece, once that I determined the winning price. Just 'hope there won't be others from the same seller or I would be eligible to suspect a fake. Again, I see some pretty spacemen APS made for the Dolcificio Lombardo over there...
Tinplate6
You may be right, Alain. However, it wouldn't be the first time someone discovered a box of unsold toys in a building basement or in a cabinet. Are you referring to the figures above the Sel-Mac robots? They were sold to me as "bubble-gum" toys from Italy.

Besides, I wonder why it takes so long to arrive, considering Spain not so far from here. Yes those, 12 aliens and 12 spacemen + vehicles (copies from Lido) and a small starship. They were made by APS (then become Texas and then Politoys) on commission for the bubble gums of the Dolcificio Lombardo (sweets/pastry maker of Lombardy, north region of Italy). Starship shoots copies of the Marx/MPC rockets with a spring. Those bases are sought after, because after the bubble gum period they were reissued for toyshops with standard rectangular bases, so yours are in prettey good shape. 8 minutes ago, Tinplate6 said:
Tinplate6
Wow...thanks for the education, Alain! I always though they were unique to have the figures balanced on one leg...it gives them a dynamic action.
Golddalek
Masterfully restored ! Wonderful this is on display for new generations of kids. ...but why would a robot need a helmet?

Well, FWIS, nowhere is written that the VdE (i.e.: "Space Sentinel") figure is a robot. It could be a spaceman with a mask...
Tinplate6
Bite your tongue, Ervino...of course it's a robot; the helmet is simply a windshield for when the weather turns bad.
