K-9 Posted January 19, 2020 Share Posted January 19, 2020 Marco purchased the parts for his Shigeru project from the estate of Mr. Shinji Miyazawa in early 2019, then fabricated the internal mechanisms as well as some of the missing exterior parts, with 3D printing. Looks like a lot of fabrication work went into these. From Marcos website (Vintagespacetoys.com)... "The parts came from Shinji’s final project.. a remote controlled Giant Robot of which he made only a few ( I still have the prototypes in my collection ) with mechanism gears and motors inside the feet and a complete different custom made mechanism to drive the robot remote controlled." The robot was driven by electric motors in the feet. See RoboDerby's link for more photos of the prototype... it was a loss that the robot never went into production. Only a couple of prototypes were made before Mr. Miyazawa passed and then Marco ended up purchasing both the prototypes and parts.
